<image:caption>Sean has spent 24 years working with contaminated land. Over that time he has worked on 5 continents, and offered free advice on the other one. The common thread that ties that work together is solving problems. The key aspect of solving problems is defining the problem correctly. Sean has found that people often start solving a problem, before the problem itself is properly defined. An enormous amount of effort can be expending solving the problem created from a symptom of the root problem. Fixing the root problem will fix the symptom problems, and can be simpler than fixing a localized symptom. Once the problem is defined, Sean's years of experience involved in determining contaminant fate and transport, choosing and designing appropriate and efficient remedial technologies, and risk assessment ensure that most effective solution for a given problem definition is selected. Sean has enough expertise in a wide variety of technologies and options, to know when additional expertise is required. His years in the industry make it likely he knows who has that additional expertise, and facilitate their involvement in the project. </image:caption>

<image:title>Lisa Bio - Lisa Neville</image:title>
<image:caption>Lisa has completed an NSERC post-doctoral fellowship with the Geological Survey of Canada, Calgary, a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from Carleton University in Ottawa, a M.Sc. in Earth Sciences and B.Sc. Honours double major in Earth Sciences and Biology from Brock University in St. Catharines. For her post-doc Lisa expanded her paleontological expertise into oil and gas exploration, working as a biostratigrapher characterizing oil and gas potential in arctic formations. This work led to the identification of a late Paleocene interval with extremely high potential. Lisa’s worked also changed a theory regarding the development of the Eocene Arctic Ocean environmental conditions which has significant implications on future exploration of this time interval. Lisa’s government-funded Ph.D. research was aimed at identifying whether or not by-products of the oil sands operation are contaminating natural environments. For this a spatial and temporal study of potential impact was conducted. To conduct the temporal study new techniques to define site-specific natural background environmental conditions were developed, primarily using dating techniques, micropaleontology, sedimentology and isotope, metal and organic geochemistry. This methodology allows Lisa to identify climate patterns that contribute to ecological stress. Lisa’s masters research was conducted for Syncrude Canada Ltd. and Suncor Energy Inc. and investigated a means of monitoring benthic ecological health in tailings ponds by specifically investigating the response of microorganisms to the byproducts of oil sands extraction.</image:caption>

<image:title>What we do - Contaminated Sites - Here's what we can do...</image:title>
<image:caption>We try to optimise a strategic approach to contaminated land portfolio management. We look at your contaminated sites, and figure out how to get from where you are, to where you need to be in the future. We'll work with you to define what you want the future of that portfolio to look like. Routine monitoring until the heat death of the universe, is likely not the answer you really want. We believe in starting with a wide view of a given situation, and include options outside the usual 'the way it's done' restrictions. Is your site a match with what a University is doing, making your expenditure open to matching R&D grants? Does your portfolio of sites make the creation of a landfill site, just for them, economical? What if you add in sites belonging to another operator? We're less about 'the way it's done', than about 'the way it should be done'. We are an active part of the Environmental Consulting Industry, and we want to put our network, to work for you. Part of our value package, is knowing experts in a variety of niches in the broader industry, and recognising when specific expertise is can be useful. </image:caption>

<image:title>What we do - Contaminated Sites</image:title>
<image:caption>There are some interesting observations we've made on the industry and how it works over the years. - Making the regulator's job easier, makes the client's job easier - in almost all cases. We do that. - Sometimes, engaging with Academic Institutions, opens doors to non-obvious, cost effective solutions. We do that. - Keeping an eye out to the long-term disposition of the site, keeps you from spending money that doesn't reduce the contamination footprint. Reduction in a zone of contamination from 100 times appropriate guidelines to 20 times those guidelines, and then stops - doesn't reduce the liability. We don't do that. If you just want to have someone take the Hassle out of compliance work or regulatory problems, we're interested in that, so don't think it's a Hassle. One person's Hassle, is another person's Interest. That translates into fast, efficient, turnaround of the work in question. And yes, we do actually like that stuff - we're like that. We don't expect Enviro-Verse to be implementing the strategies we recommend, so are free to concentrate on what technology or strategy is best for the client. We know and understand the wide menu of options available, and can recommend from that menu, without self interest, or self dealing. The client's best interest, is our best interest - always. We are happy to engage in preliminary engineering work, or scoping studies for projects, but there are people better suited to execute those plans than us...and we know who they are.</image:caption>
